In the world of social media, you never know what might happen. A bizarre incident has come to light in Uttar Pradesh’s Gorakhpur. Fed up with their husbands’ persistent addiction issues, two women left their homes and married each other. The women, identified as Kavita and Gunj, made headlines with this unusual event.

The marriage took place at the famous Shiva Temple, known as “Chhoti Kashi,” in Deoria. During the ceremony, Gunj assumed the role of the husband and applied sindoor (vermillion) to Kavita. The two exchanged garlands and completed the traditional seven rounds around the sacred fire, solemnizing their marriage as per rituals.

Kavita and Gunj, the two women involved, were reportedly frustrated with their husbands’ addiction and constant harassment. The two met on Instagram six years ago and eventually decided to leave their homes to live together. Both women had endured domestic abuse from their husbands, according to reports.

Uma Shankar Pandey, the priest of the Shiva Temple, revealed that the women brought all the materials required for the marriage ceremony themselves. They completed the rituals and left together after the ceremony.

“We were tired of the daily abuse from our husbands,” said one of the women. One of them has four children and had returned to her parents’ home after facing relentless abuse. The other woman, too, was distressed by her husband’s alcoholism and constant accusations of infidelity, which she could no longer tolerate.

Speaking to the media, Gunj said, “We were fed up with our husbands’ addiction and harassment. From now on, we want to live our lives peacefully and happily.” She further added that they have decided to live together in Gorakhpur and work there to sustain themselves.

“We don’t have a house in Gorakhpur, but we plan to rent a place and spend the rest of our lives together,” Gunj stated.
